New chat feature from Facebook “Messenger Rooms”

One of the social networks, Facebook launched Messenger Rooms for group video chats to millions of people in quarantine due to the outbreak of COVID-19. In new rooms, created in Messenger or Facebook, chat will be available without time limit. It will not be necessary to have a Facebook account or Messenger app to participate in Messenger Rooms chats, which allow up to 50 people in total.

Messenger Rooms allows people to meet with friends, family, or people with the same interests as online via their shared video chat links, and invite people they want to join rooms by creating rooms via Messenger or Facebook.

NON-FACEBOOK ACCOUNT CAN BE USED

People invited to these conversations do not need to have a Facebook account or Messenger app. Messenger Rooms chats, which allow up to 50 people in total, do not have a time limit.

People who create chat links can share these links in news sources, in their member groups and on event pages.

The people who create the chat link can determine who can join these chats, and they can close participation if they don’t want more people to join the chat.

Invited people can join the conversation over the phone or computer without downloading any apps, and those with the Messenger app can access AR filters, primarily backgrounds and different effects.

Facebook also announced that in the coming days, people will also be offering new features to create and join Messenger Rooms chats via Instagram, WhatsApp and Portal.

‘VOICE AND VIDEO CALLS INCREASED TWO TIMES’

People use technology more than ever before to stay connected during a pandemic. Voice and video calls over Messenger and WhatsApp have doubled over the past year in areas most affected by the coronavirus outbreak. In these difficult times, where we once again realized the importance of communities and the importance of staying connected with these communities, it prompted them to think about what innovations they can make on their platform on Facebook. We hope that these days, when we cannot physically come together, people can stay in touch with their families, friends and communities through Messenger Rooms and have a pleasant time thanks to features such as AR filters, games and screen sharing.
