DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine Introduced

DJI introduced the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine drone models, which stand out with their powerful features.

DJI has announced two new drone models, Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine. There are some common features between both models, but Cine of course offers more. The Cine model can shoot Apple ProRes 422 HQ content at up to 50FPS at 5.1K and has 1TB SSD storage onboard. The Mavic, on the other hand, shares the same dual camera system powered by a Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS sensor, although it doesn’t come with ProRes or an onboard SSD. Both drones can shoot at up to 120 FPS in 4K and take 20MP photos. In addition to the main 24mm lens, there is also a hybrid zoom lens capable of 28x digital zoom. Note that in terms of focal length, this equates to 162mm at f/4.4.

Both models have batteries for 46 minutes of flight time. This is a significant improvement over the Mavic 2’s 31-minute battery and even over the Mavic Air 2s and 2S, which can fly for 34 and 31 minutes on a single charge, respectively.

DJI also includes Hasselblad Natural Color Solution, which promises incredibly natural colors as soon as they come out of their camera.

On the other hand, if you don’t want the built-in color profile, the Mavic 3 is capable of shooting in 10-bit D-log for more control over color in post-processing. In addition to ProRes encoding, you can shoot in standard H.264 and H.265 profiles. HDR video is not available.

Alongside all the camera improvements, DJI has also upgraded its autonomous capabilities for the Mavic 3. Just like its predecessor, the Mavic 3 shares omnidirectional obstacle detection, but the sensors can now detect objects even 200m away. Previously it was 20 m. This extra access enables some new improvements: Advanced RTH (back home), APAS 5.0 and ActiveTrack 5.0. Advanced RTH helps the drone plan a smarter route as it returns to the takeoff position. APAS 5.0 does just that, but only if you’re not the person using the drone. ActiveTrack 5.0 also promises great improvement in tracking and tracking topics. For example, flying in any direction while tracking a subject and leveraging the visual sensors in the camera body to continue tracking objects when they are out of frame are some of them.

Both drones come with updated versions of DJI’s proprietary transmission technology OcuSync 3+, which promises a range of 15km (in ideal conditions) and 60FPS live feed transmission at 1080p to your smartphone or controller.

Finally, it should be noted that the Mavic 3 will go on sale with a price tag of $ 2,199 and the Mavic 3 Cine with a price tag of $ 4,999.
