AMD CEO: Zen 4 and RDNA 3 Architecture On The Way For 2022

AMD prefers to go step-by-step, rather than explaining a roadmap to 2025, like Intel. Products that will be powered by new generation architectures will be launched in 2022.

Nowadays, when there are problems in hardware stocks, current technology moves continue to come from companies. AMD announced that it expects the production shortage to continue through 2021. Although the prices of graphics cards continue to fall, it should be noted that the RX 6000 series graphics cards are still very high. In addition, prices for AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors are almost back to normal.

On the other hand, it should be noted that AMD is working on the next-generation Zen 4 processor architecture. It seems likely that new processors, powered by this architecture, will debut in the second half of 2022. So much so that before Zen 4, we can expect the renewed Zen 3+ series towards the end of this year. In the meantime, let’s add that the new generation Ryzen processors will have 3D V-Cache technology.

The Zen 4 architecture will likely be used in the EPYC 7004 series codenamed “Genoa”, desktop processors known as “Raphael” and APUs called “Phoenix”. APUs with graphics processors are expected to use RDNA 2 graphics in particular. Moreover, with Zen 4, DDR5 RAM support will most likely be offered and a new platform will be required.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has confirmed firsthand that Zen 4 and RDNA 3-based products are on their way to launch next year.

“We are on track to launch next-generation products in 2022, including our Zen 4 processors and RDNA 3 GPUs, built with industry-leading 5nm manufacturing technology.

Although the information about RDNA 3 GPUs is quite limited, we have heard a lot of rumors in recent weeks. AMD is said to be preparing Navi 31 and 32 GPUs, both of which are expected to feature multi-chip designs. Lower-end Navi 33 and 34 GPUs, on the contrary, may come with a monolithic design.
