Netflix Will Focus On Mobile Gaming First
Netflix, which has been the subject of rumors for a while, will operate on mobile platforms in the first step. It should also be noted that the game service will be free to subscribers.
It was reported recently that Netflix has hired former Electronic Arts (EA) and Facebook executive Mike Verdu as vice president of game development. Thus, it was said that the company would be involved in the game market, and an official confirmation came from Netflix.
The company, which operates in the movie and TV series industry, provided more information about its game plans in an email it sent to investors. Netflix sees games as a new category, just like TV shows, movies, and animations. Also, this service will be part of the subscription and they will initially focus on mobile platforms.
“We’re as excited as ever about our movies and TV series and look forward to increased investment and growth across all our current content categories. But now that it’s been almost a decade since we transitioned to original programming, it’s time to learn more about the value our members place on games.”
We don’t yet know what kind of games Netflix will focus on. However, as you may remember, we talked about a possible Sony and Netflix partnership recently. Moreover, in the Netflix application, signs of DualSense controller support and a Ghost of Tsushima image were discovered. This means that Sony could play a role in Netflix games in the future.
