Tesla Plans to Open Its Supercharge Station Network to Other Electric Vehicles

Elon Musk has announced that his other electric vehicles can also benefit from the Tesla supercharging station network.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, in a statement on Twitter, said that they plan to open the Tesla supercharger station network to other electric vehicles this year. The electric-car maker’s worldwide network of more than 25,000 superchargers has given the company its competitive edge. Other automakers rushed for new electric vehicle entries, forming alliances for networks or investing in startups.

“We are making our supercharger network available to other electric vehicles by the end of this year,” Musk said, adding that over time Tesla’s charging network will expand to other electric vehicles in all countries.

Germany’s transport minister said last month that he was trying to persuade Tesla to open up its charging network to other automakers to make it easier for electric vehicle drivers to charge, Reuters reported. Additionally, President Joe Biden’s administration signed a bipartisan Senate agreement late last month to spend $7.5 billion on electric vehicle infrastructure and $1.2 trillion on infrastructure projects, including charging stations.

Improvement in charging infrastructure across the US could encourage more Americans to buy electric vehicles and provide much-needed fuel for General Motors and Ford Motor in the battle against Tesla.

In the past weeks, Tesla has updated its fully autonomous driving system.
