What Is Design, Who Is Called Designer?

Design, in the Turkish dictionary, is “the form envisioned, imagination.

The first draft, drawing, design of a work of art, structure or technical product.

Framework, drafting, design, which designs the paths and procedures to be followed in various stages of a research process. It was described in the figure. It is used in our language as the Turkish equivalent of the word “design”, an English and French word. It has many meanings as defined above in the Turkish dictionary. It takes different definitions according to the line of business it is used in.

Everything that is the product of an idea and used as concrete data is a product of design.

Who Is A Designer Called?

In its simplest definition, designer is the person who designs. A designer is a person who can think, imagine, and foresee in later stages, and who can transform this thought and dream into a plan tangibly. So if we ask who are the designers, everyone is actually a designer. In order to be a true designer, it is necessary to have an education and to turn the desired thing into a viable plan. In other words, the person who presents data that can realize the thought and dream is called the designer. But to think a little more simply, shaping the interior of a house by a housewife, an architect to shape a building, shaping a whole or a part of an industrial product are design and require a designer.

They train designers in universities and courses that provide professional education. Architects, interior designers, fashion designers, industrial designers are also professional designers. And professional designers are called artists today. They create works of art with the works they have done and these works have copyright.

Design Types

Everything we use and encounter in daily life is the product of a design. It has been thought over, plans have been made, and after a certain period of time, it has been implemented and put into use. We can examine the design types that are applicable under three headings.

Industrial design

It is industrial design to design the parts or all of the products that we encounter in daily life such as technological products, machines, white goods, furniture, kitchen appliances and appliances. It is important to design parts or all of them in order to make the technological products we use or products that require industrial design more aesthetic, more stylish, more useful, and to choose materials accordingly, to increase the demand for products in the competitive market and to come to the fore. For example, it is industrial design in designing screws, phones, machines, cars, and food processors.

Environmental design

It is a design that covers a very large scale and a very wide area such as architectural design, interior design, city region planning, landscape plans.

Designing the plans of a building, designing its exterior, designing its interior design, designing road axes and layouts for a city, making plans for parks and gardens are all products and sub-branches of environmental design.

Graphic design

It is a design with more advertising content. It covers works that will bring visual pleasure and excitement to the foreground such as promotional brochures, websites, content and flow designs of websites, book covers, magazine covers. Graphic design is an important type of design to improve and express more simple perception and to provide ease of use. Refers to a very large area.
