Is It Possible To Communicate With Brain Signals?

The US Army is funding research to help soldiers communicate quietly in the future using brain signals.

Have you ever thought that people can communicate with each other only through thoughts and using brain waves? The US Army has already started spending millions of dollars on research that could make this futuristic scenario a reality.

The project is led by researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition, some universities from the USA and the UK are also involved in the project. The research has been successful in separating brain signals that affect action or behavior from other brain signals.

Using an algorithm and complex numbers, the research team can identify which brain signals are associated with behavior and distinguish them from others. Is it possible to describe these brain signals?

In the following days, a device can be developed to identify brain signals, interpret them and provide feedback. Hamid Krim, program manager of the Army Research Department, said that the brain signals stress and fatigue before realizing that someone is stressed or tired. This technology can let soldiers know they need a break in advance.

Another potential application for research is the goal of quiet and fast communication. In summary, when the soldier thinks about an action, that action can be interpreted by a computer and transmitted to a teammate or a commander.

Finally, let’s state that the tests for separating brain waves were carried out on monkeys. However, developing the technology in a short time is very difficult and can take decades.
